Cape Air Pet Policy (Cats, Dogs) 2024

Cape Air accepts cats, dogs, birds, and rabbits inside their cabins. Pets are not accepted as checked baggage, and they do not provide any cargo service for pets. They charge 30 USD for each pet on their flights. They do not accept pets from multiple families on the same flight. So, you’ll have to book for the only allotment as soon as possible. Service dogs travel for free on Cape Air flights.

Container Requirements

• You can bring a hard or soft container, depending on your location and aircraft.
• The ground of the container should be leak-proof.
• It should be easily stowed under your seat.

Charges

Cape Air charges a flat rate of 30 USD for each pet onboard. You can take your pet for free on Cape Air if you’re a Travel Pass holder.

Required Documents

Cape Air does not demand any specific documents. You must contact the authorities at your destination port and learn about their document requirements. You can take those documents with you on the flight.

Destination Restrictions

You do not need to have a container with you when you’re flying from or to or between these locations:

Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket

New Bedford

Hyannis

Pets are not accepted on flights to/from/between these locations:

BVI	Virgin Gorda	Puerto Rico
Culebra	WI	Nevis

• Pets are not accepted on transits.

Aircraft Restrictions

Each Cape Air flight accepts only one regular pet or service animal. You can bring more of your pets with you in case the airline allows it. They generally allow multiple pets from the same family. Pets from different families are not allowed onboard the same flight.

• Britten Norman Islander aircraft can not take pets.

Service Dogs

Travelers with special needs can bring their service dogs for free on Cape Air flights.

• The dog has to be a trained one.
• There should be a leash for the dog.
• You can buy a seat for your service dog, but it can not sit directly on the seat.
• The dog should be seated on the floor near your seat.
• The service dog must know how to behave among the public.

Emotional Support Pets

Cape Air does not accept emotional support pets anymore. But if it is a trained one, it can travel for free as a service animal.

Booking

They accept only one pet on each flight, which is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. So make the reservations once your trip has been finalized as soon as possible.

Check-In

You have to check in with at least 2 hours in hand.
